 About The Artist

I graduated from Converse College (BA Deaf Education), and UNCC
(M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction/Learning Disabilities). For twenty years,
I taught the hearing impaired and learning disabled . Since 1995,
I have studied pottery at Penland School of Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk
School, Laloba Ranch, Shakerag Workshops, Odyssey Center for Ceramic
Arts, and Clemson University.

Horseback riding, fishing, volunteering for therapeutic riding, and spending
time with my husband, family, friends, and pets are a few of my interests.

I make one of a kind, stoneware pottery pieces. Each piece is thrown on
the wheel, altered, carved and reduction fired in a gas kiln. Some glazes
are dipped, while most are sprayed. Pieces include mugs, wine goblets,
lidded vessels, tiles, bowls, casseroles, teapots, platters, communion sets....

Recently, I have begun encaustic painting. Most colors and scenes have
a western or Indian influence.
