Putting alumina hydrate in your wax will help prevent lids from sticking during firing.
Pour about 2 inches of wax into a baby food jar. Add one heaping teaspoon of alumina hydrate and stir. I also add food coloring which will burn out during the firing.....then I can see where I have the wax. This also reminds me that this is the wax with alumina added.
Apply the alumina wax to the lid galley and to the rim of the lid.
When you glaze, be sure to get ALL glaze off the waxed area. One bead of glaze can stick your lid to the piece.
