I tried a commercial terra sigillata and added advocado mason stain to a 1/2 cup of the terra sig.( mix to your desired color) . After applying 3 coats over some underglazes, I let it dry. Using a piece of plastic wrapped around a finger, I buffed the entire piece. It was fired to cone 07. It is a waxy , smooth glaze. This elk is the end result:
