'Tis the season for Christmas craft fairs and I have been attending quite a few. Since I am fairly new to Montana, I have been paying attention to what people are buying.
Mugs are always a big seller and are in an affordable price range. Soup/cereal bowls came in second. Many people were buying ornaments in the $10 - $20 range. One vender made clay buttons.
While it is important to draw people to your booth, it is also important to make things that you enjoy making. Finding your own personal niche is what keeps you creating. You may be the one known for butter keepers, or juicers, or clay flowers. Make one huge piece that draws people to your booth, but may never sell.
Some of the small pieces are great kiln fillers and may pay for booth fees. However, making that larger ticket item may be your passion. Happy potting!!
