Sometimes the greatest obstacle to creative success is actually getting into the studio and creating. Artists can come up with a whole list of reasons why NOT to get into the studio.
If you create a schedule of studio time and stick to it you will find yourself more successful , creative, and joyful. You need to inform your family and friends of your need for this specific time free of calls, visits, and requests.
Stick to a schedule. When is your most creative time of day and when can you get into the studio? I used to "treat myself " to studio time when all the household tasks were done( which is NEVER!) Now, studio time comes first. I then do not resent all the menial tasks that have to be done each day.
When you enter your studio space ( which has to be designated), do a few minutes of mental warmup.
*write in a journal ( what inspires you? what things do you want to create? write positive statements)
*clean your space
*sketch in your sketchbook
*stretch.... do a few minutes of standing yoga, jump rope, toe touches
