The bottom of my gas kiln runs "cold", so I have started using cone six glazes on the bottom, and cone 9 glazes on the top. These recent test tiles of VC 71 base ( Val Cushing ) with additions of copper carbonate yielded some wonderful results. The glaze is a pearl, satin ....very smooth and nice to the touch.
