I used to think that all wax was the same. Did you know that Forbes Wax is water based and Mobil Wax is oil based? Both waxes can be thinned with water...the Mobil Wax will need to be stirred frequently. I use the smooth, easily to apply Forbes Wax for the bottom of bisque ware. I also use one cup of Forbes with one teaspoon of alumina hydroxide ( stir together and keep in a baby food jar) for rims of teapots and the channel on the lid that touches the rim. You can easily tap the lid with a wooden spoon after firing and it will release. |
