I like to make pinch pot horses while working in the gallery. Using small clay balls, I poke a finger into the ball to hollow it out somewhat. I then manipulate the clay to form a head with ears and a tail. Further manipulation creates the body. The horseshoe nail in the tail creates an air hole. The eyes are steel carpet tacks. Incise the clay with decorations. Allow to dry thoroughly and put a copper oxide wash on it. Use spectrum low fire glazes to accent and fire to cone 06 (slow).
This is a single fire process...enjoy!
